DIRT DEVILS BRANDING
let’s play ball!
I worked with Coyote Ridge Marketing to develop the logo and branding of a youth baseball team. The team’s primary sponsor was The Reesman Company who specializes in landscaping and construction services. As such, the name ‘Dirt Devils’ was proposed and decided to be the perfect fit for the team as well as adopting The Reesman Company’s trademark green as the team color. Based on guidance from the Creative Director, I focused in on using a CAT D6 Bulldozer as the main mascot and incorporated a tail and horns to tie in with the Dirt Devils moniker. Below you can see a bit of my process: moving from the logo sketch for client approval, to a color study with detail refinement based on client feedback, and finally to the finished mark.
Of course, no sports team is complete without an extended suite of logos and branding. To this end, I developed a ‘DD’ acronym mark to be used as a secondary logo and I also refined the full logo down to a one color option to insure logo usability across a wide range of applications.
Outfitting the team
Once the logo and branding were complete, I wanted to come up with designs for team hats and jerseys. Below you can see the apparel mockups that I developed to further extend the branding and complete the ‘Dirt Devils’ picture.
